About us
We are Tilian and Liv. We make AuroraChaser, a free northern lights app and website for Northern Norway and Svalbard. We launched the app in September 2026, and it still has few users. We live in the Netherlands and are moving to Tromsø in 2027.
What we make
For each of our 128 viewing spots, the app shows an aurora score from 0 to 100 for tonight. It weighs aurora activity, cloud, darkness, moonlight and light pollution. How the score works has the details.
How we work
- We publish the score's parameters. We recorded our test plan for this winter before the season began, with timestamps anyone can check.
- We use no advertising networks. The app may show a few partner promotions, which we mark clearly and serve ourselves. Our privacy policy explains what data we collect and why.
- Every data source we use is named on our data sources page.
