AuroraChaser for Android phones without Google Play
This is the AuroraChaser app as a file you install yourself, for Huawei, Honor and other phones without Google Play. Without Google services, alerts from our server cannot reach your phone. The daily forecast at 18:00 and the alerts while the app is open still work.
This copy is for travellers to Northern Norway and Svalbard. It is not meant for use inside mainland China.

How to install
- Tap the download button, then open the file once it has downloaded.
- If your phone asks, allow your browser or file manager to install apps. You can switch this off again afterwards.
- On a Huawei or Honor phone with Pure Mode on, the phone may block the install or warn you about it. You can allow this one install, or switch Pure Mode off for a moment (search for “Pure Mode” in Settings) and on again afterwards.
- To check the file, compare its SHA-256 checksum with the one above. Many file managers can show it.
- Open AuroraChaser and choose the region you are visiting.
What works without Google services
Our server sends its alerts through Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google's push service, which needs Google Play services on the phone. Everything else in the app works as in the Google Play version.
Updates
This copy does not update itself. When a new version is out, the app shows a notice with a link to this page. You can also check here yourself. Install the new file over the old one, and your settings stay.
Have Google Play or an iPhone?
Then install the app from Google Play or the App Store instead. Those versions update themselves.
